Landmarks Illinois Sponsors Madden Park Homes Historical Marker

We are happy to announce that we received the Landmarks Illinois Timuel D. Black, Jr. Fund Grant for our TENTH historical marker at the former site of Madden Park Homes at 500 E. 37th Street in Chicago.

Madden Park Homes was located on the former land occupied by the demolished Ida B. Wells homes and the current site of Mariano’s in Bronzeville. We are honored to have received this grant in honor of our beloved elder, Timuel D. Black.

Thanks to your donations and sponsors like Landmarks Illinois, our Historical Markers Fund has raised $33,586.61.

We only have THREE markers to go for the first wave of landmarking the Illinois Chapter of the Black Panther Party: Altgeld Gardens, Peoria and 35th Street. Please consider donating today and helping us spread the word.
