We haven’t come down from our fantastic voyage on Saturday! We are so grateful for the turnout, the comradery, and all we learned to make it even better in the future.
Thank you for sharing this special experience with us!
Thank you to the Party members who shared their stories with us. We honor you and the sacrifices you endured.
We left from the Better Boys Foundation, the first site of the Free Breakfast for Children Program. From there was the Marcy Newberry Foundation, then the Spurgeon “Jake” Winters People’s Medical Care Center.
From headquarters, 2350 W. Madison, we walked to the assassination site at 2337 W. Monroe.

The People’s Church was next, 201 S. Ashland, now Epiphany Center for the Arts. We then went to the near north side to visit Cabrini Green and St. Dominick’s Church, the organizing location of the Northside Cadre.
On the southside, we visited the first southside office at 233 E. 35th, then Madden Park Homes Field House at 500 E. 37th Street, then the main southside office at 4233 S. Indiana.
Deputy Minister of Defense Bobby Rush then led us to Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley National Monument Robert’s Temple before we visited the grounds of the Robert Taylor Homes.
All of these sites were demolished except the People’s Church. Yet, our guests appreciated the place-based learning and the importance of historic preservation.
Our next public tours will be in October; stay tuned!
