Financial Update: Joseph and Bessie Feinberg Foundation Donates $20,000
Historical Preservation Society Receives Largest Donation
We would like to thank Janice Feinberg and the Joseph and Bessie Feinberg Foundation for donating $20,000 to the Historical Preservation Society, making their total contribution $25,000. (Janice also helps in other ways.) In addition to this generous contribution, the Foundation also sponsors the historical marker at the People’s Church, Epiphany Center for the Arts, 201 S. Ashland.
You have heard the name because the Feinberg Foundation has a pavilion in its honor at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and Northwestern University has the Feinberg School of Medicine.
The Historical Preservation Society’s mission is to preserve, research, document, and present the history and legacy of the Illinois Chapter of the Black Panther Party. It is an honor that the Foundation recognizes the historic contributions of the Illinois Chapter of the Black Panther Party and is helping us in our work.
Trust for Public Land Sponsors Altgeld Gardens Historical Marker
Eleven Historical Markers Confirmed, Two to Go
We received news last week that Trust for Public Land will also sponsor our 11th marker slated for Altgeld Gardens. We thank Caroline O’Boyle and Jocelyn Imani for their interest and enthusiasm in the Black Panther Party Heritage Trail in Illinois.
Trust for Public Land also sponsors the marker for the People’s Law Office, and Caroline and Jocelyn are part of the planning committe for the Mark Clark Memorial Park in Peoria.
We have two markers left!
233 E. 35th Street in Chicago and 511 Richard Allen Drive in Peoria.
Making Places for the Black Panther Party
In addition to our consciousness, film and the internet, spaces for the Black Panther Party belong in the built environment. Its history has been demolished in our city, and the Historical Preservation Society is making places in its honor.
We are deeply appreciative of your understanding of the importance of our work and your invaluable contributions. Your support is what keeps us going, and we are truly grateful for it.
Your presence, enthusiasm, and sharing of our messages all help us with this work.
